VoTE FoR ME, NOw oR NeVeR!!!
"I am nobody, nobody is perfect
Therefore I am perfect, vote for me"
Have you ever seen a poster that read " no vacancy in Aso rock"? Or one that says "Vote for Good government, not Goodluck"? If yes is your answers, then you will agree with me that electioneering campaigns in Nigeria is getting more of a comic activity than it had been, though the messages seem to be easily decoded (well, essence of comedy?)
For many a time, I've paused to read those posters and cannot help but just smile and say, well, you sound like Basketmouth! These are just few that I have been opportuned to see, actually, you might have seen more funnier ones, and sure, you might have laughed out loud in dismay.
One of the many things for which Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo has been so good at is emulation of ideas, I mean, great ideas. Afterall, "Taking ideas from one is stealing, but taking ideas from many is plagiarism". Next time, you take a walk through the croons and corners of the Campus, be mindful enough, and you will see many of these trying-to-be-funny posters and campaign slogans. The Campus is infact, undergoing a 'Transformation agenda under the influence of posters' and simultaneously, experiencing 'Change' in its anatomic and demographic depictions. In this kind of situation, one cannot but ask this questions, are these kind of campaign techniques really of help? Do they entice the attention of audience the more? Well, I think these questions will be more attended to when the said electioneering process has come to an end and the results were announced, then we can actually say, which of these zealous contestant's techniques actually worked.
The student Union Government election is undoubtedly the hottest of the campaigns, then different Schools of the Campus are seriously striving to come into light, various students that normally behave as not conversant with elections, or that behave as if they are not interested in politicking, who will on a normal day, refer to Politics as a 'dirty game' seem to now be realising of recent that they actually have this Politicking spirit in them, and now getting involved in the trend of leadership as many will at this time, seem to be the most humble person ever that you had met when they speak to you, and believe me, they will always take the slightest opportunity to have an encounter with an average unknown student that come their way.
Yes! To those that are the electorates, I will say this is your time to demand for the respect that 'these people' had deprived you previously, make good use of this opportunity! 'God don catch dem!'
And to all our students-turn-artistic-comedians, please for God sake, STOP CUSTOMISING OUR GROUND. We already know you by who you had been before, yes! The Electorates knew who you are, and remember, that as most of you will be deeply engrossed in strategizing Campaign techniques day and night, our beautiful lecturers are the same way, deeply engrossed in strategizing difficult and tempting questions that will sound ugly and disheartening to our sight when we read our question papers, so we better strategise well so that we will not be mesmerising the different campaign slogans we had used when the question actually asked us to write the name of the honourable Minister of Education in Nigeria.
'My fellow people, don't be a looser, be a chooser' Goodluck! Oh, I don't mean Jonathan o.
... Give me some water, I need a sip!
